MY BFF

My mom always told me that you can count your true friends on 1 hand, and I've always believed that those friends need to be friends that you've known most of your life.

That was until I met Anne. I met Anne around February 2006. I was offered a job as a Laser Tech in a medical spa being opened by a doctor. The other half of the building was a family practice where Anne was an MA. Because the spa was just opening, the doctor invited some of the girls from "the other side" to come receive some services. I was the Aesthetician, Laser Tech and Permanent MakeUp Artist.

Anne volunteered her lips to me and we became friends. Lunch was catered in everyday by drug reps and we started taking our lunch at the same time. We were talking one day about her upcoming wedding and she asked if I would be willing to give her a mani/pedi for her big day. I started my career as a manicurist while in "real" college, (yes, I went to Cosmetology school and college at the same time) but soon transitioned into better money making areas of the salon business.

Unfortunately this is not a Bash The Crazy Doctor post (which I was advised by my attorney in the settlement, I couldn't do anyway) but making a long story short, every single person in that office on both sides eventually left the craziness with the exception of maybe three "lifers" who probably had some wild horrible secrets they didn't want revealed at any expense. I can't imagine any other reason they would stay and endure the kind of abuse that was doled out by this woman. No matter the chaos that exuded from that, the worst career move I ever made, all was not lost. I take sweet satisfaction in knowing that as hard as this doctor tried to pit her employees against one another so they couldn't secretly turn on her, blossomed one of the truest friendships I've ever experienced.

I love Anne with all my heart and soul. We have this weird foursome between ourselves and our husbands that somehow fits like a glove. Our husbands are complete opposites but truly get along so well. Anne and Chief could be twins. Seriously. We joke all the time and say that if they were married, because of their views on money and life in general, they would be homeless because of so much debt to stuff....asking if they could sleep in the garage of mine and Nathan's mansion.

As close as I and Chief are, there are just times that I cannot wrap my brain around where he's coming from. Anne gives me the girly perspective on his thoughts. Where as I can also sometimes give her insight on where her husband is coming from. I said sometimes. Because seriously sometimes her husband has PMS worse than both of us combined. But somehow it works for us. I truly know I can count on her for anything at anytime. And trust me, we've both tested this theory by calling eachother in the middle of the night for different kid emergency room visits and she was the first person I called when my grandfather died a couple of weeks ago. And that is why she is my BFF!!!

I Love You

I'm cracking up at how you tied the two stories together. I'm close to you, just an hour west. I saw your 4th post - was that an AR or TN lake? We spent our 4th in Marion/West M.
